This family session in Concord, CA was at one of my favorite locations, Markham Park. I have photographed families at this location a handful of times, and every time I try to find ways to make it new. I had the honor of photographing this family a couple of years a go when their oldest was just two, and this time around I was introduced to their newest little guy!
When I photograph families I always try to find ways to capture the kids personalities. The oldest has so much energy, so we moved a lot, and he helped me to find the locations that we would photograph around the park. He also got behind the camera a few times and helped me take the photos of mom and dad while I held the baby! I also always try to get a few shots of parents by themselves. Sometimes that is hard with little ones who only let a parent hold them, but this little guy was so sweet and I held the camera in one hand, baby in the other and the older one helped make them laugh, it was so fun!
Family sessions are always fluid, I follow the lead of the kids and try to have a mix of movement and quiet still moments. We also already have rapport since we have worked together before, and that helps to make everyone feel a bit more comfortable!
