This Martinez newborn photography session started in the nursery. The light in the nursery is so dreamy! One of the things that is special about Martinez is the character of the 1900’s era houses. This family’s home is no exception. From the dark wood stained doors and the beautiful panelling in the living room, to the wide steps leading up to their front porch, it is oozing with modern bungalow charm.
Toddlers and Newborns – Why they are the best combo
I love when I get to work with clients year after year! It especially fun when you welcome a second or third baby. I had the honor of photographing this family when they welcomed their first little guy. When they reached out about being pregnant with their second baby, I was so excited to celebrate with them with another newborn session. We even recreated a few images from their first session using the beautiful dark woods as a backdrop.
Welcoming a new baby with a toddler is an experience. Some toddlers are keen to be a part of the session and show off their new sibling. Other’s might be a little overwhelmed by the experience and show off in other ways. For me, there can always be beauty captured in the chaos of chasing a toddler and soothing a newborn. To get this little guy involved, we encouraged him to tell us about his sister and point to her fingers and toes. I also play a little game to get the overhead shots of the two of them on the bed.
